Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American Sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been so since her age of nine. Her ability in this area has helped her get her first work at Univision, Miami. She worked with national producers on programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. She was hired as reporter for CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. The year 2009 saw her move from Rio Grande Valley, Texas to become reporter for news on the Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The reporter covered stories about immigration and drug trafficking both at the Texas as well as the Mexico the border. She worked as a news reporter on the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 Univision and Fox2 News. As an anchor, her duties on weather and sports was frequent requests. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's Dallas-affiliate station. She was also given more responsibility. She covered major events such as the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and finals FC Dallas as well. Besides this, she produced the Univision 23 local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor herself. She became a sports host for the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. The anchor also worked as anchor of the sports segment for Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz Mexico. At some point they moved to Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November in 1985. She is the older sibling of her parents. Her family relocated into Miami in 1992 after leaving Mexico. Her parents divorced soon after and in 1995 her mother remarried with a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo who passed away of kidney cancer in 2006. The couple remained at Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer, when she was approached for the opportunity of a job. Antonietta was the senior of her high school, but she was very aware of her career goals. She visited Mount Union University to decide if it would be a good fit for her. It turned out that she loved the school and they had the program she was looking for. Her studies were completed and she received a scholarship to the University with a degree in media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the manager at WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a participant. He encouraged her to be confident in herself and his enthusiasm for journalism greatly influenced her and she, in turn, tried to exceed his expectations and never fail him.
